The Power of Reinvention: Your Next Level Awaits

At the end of last semester, I felt a deep urge to write Next Level Energy. I had been exploring how our beliefs about money, power, and self-worth shape our experiences—especially our net worth. I realized that money is energy, and the way we spend, receive and think about it reflects how we see ourselves.

I grew up in Dallas’ inner city and now live in one of the most affluent communities in Texas. I put myself through college and two graduate programs, navigated single parenthood, got my kids into college, and married a husband who not only says he loves to take care of me but consistently shows it. Along the way, I discovered that the same core principles that transform relationships—love, forgiveness, and nonjudgment—also have the power to transform finances.

As I immersed myself in this study, I realized I hadn’t fully healed my relationship with money. I had built a thriving business while still carrying a heavy teaching load—not just because I love helping students, but because I’m comfortable taking on more to support both my college and my family. That was a heart issue. But I had to ask myself - Was I holding onto a version of success that no longer fit? Like a snake shedding its skin, I knew it was time to evolve.

The Shift: From Professor to CEO

I started writing Next Level Energy last year and finished it surprisingly fast. But something shifted as I wrote, re-read, revised, and shared it with my husband and friends. I transformed my mindset. I evolved from seeing myself as a professor who has a side business to the owner of a business making five-figure deals each time I customize an Are You Ready course for colleges and school districts. I had been doing this for years to enhance my students’ experiences, but now I see how I can help educators and students on a larger scale by equipping them before they even reach the classroom.

My business has expanded beyond college readiness. My inner peace courses now help incarcerated individuals navigate atonement and reconciliation before reuniting with loved ones. My explosive business growth is a byproduct of my deep study and intentional application of what I’ve learned about the energy of money.

The Connection Between Money, Relationships, and Self-Worth

The same energy that governs our financial experiences also applies to our relationships. I evolved out of relationships where I gave unconditional love, unwavering support, and loyalty—while receiving conditional love and disloyalty in return. I used to hope that if I kept showing up fully, others would do the same. But over time, my standard shifted. That level of love, support, and loyalty became a requirement. It became the energetic minimum I needed for myself.

It’s the same with money. I used to work tirelessly for a few hundred dollars and tolerate almost any level of nonsense just to be validated by people supporting my work. I bent over backward to satisfy their every demand, no matter how outrageous, because I didn’t feel worthy of the money I received in some way. I’d accepted a foundational belief that I was on earth to serve others AND that I needed to do it to the best of my ability all the time, which led to a level of perfectionism that I couldn’t meet. As a result, I didn’t value myself, my events, or my products enough internally, so I attracted that energy externally.

But I changed my internal algorithm. I raised my energetic set point so that I attract clients and opportunities that support me and my business with respect. As I wrote Next Level Energy, journaled, and studied myself, I broke free of the limiting mindset that kept me stuck.

Reinventing My Time, My Boundaries, My Life

This shift is reflected in my career as well. I have reduced my teaching load by half. I was put into a situation where I was given the opportunity to reduce my teaching load, and I accepted without hesitation. I have set boundaries with my time, creating a schedule that allows me to engage with my students and colleagues, my clients, and now—with you, my audience. Most importantly, I have created space for myself to cleanse, reflect, and evolve daily.

Whether I am preparing for my Next Level Energy course, practicing its strategies from the book, or discussing energetic principles with others, I have become. I have evolved into the next-level version of myself—a more authentic version of myself. I am stepping into who I’ve always believed I was.

Reinvention Is Your Birthright

Reinvention isn’t about becoming someone else. It’s about evolving into the person you’ve always known yourself to be. It’s about recognizing your highest potential and stepping fully into it. Others may only catch glimpses of who you are becoming, but the more you own your identity, the more aligned your life becomes.

If you’re feeling the urge to reinvent yourself, here’s what I’ve learned:

  1. Be willing to evolve. Change is uncomfortable, but staying stagnant is worse.

  2. Support your evolution with action. Seek more insight, whether through journaling, reading, or studying what aligns with your next level.

  3. Involve others in your growth. Work with mentors, coaches, or like-minded individuals who support your journey.

As I near 50, I can tell you this: Life is better when you commit to evolution. Don’t be afraid to reinvent yourself—even in front of people who have known you forever. Sometimes, your evolution is the very thing they need to witness to start their own journey.

If you’ve found this, you’re at a crossroads—this is your sign to take the next step.
